Ahlat ruin city Turkey

These caves were used as military ammunition warehouses and cold storages during the period when the castle was prospering. Cave clusters, which are among the natural areas in Ahlat and are important for cave tourism, are generally located in Harabeşehir and Sultan Seyit Streams, Kırklar Valley, Madavans Stream, Gaban Stream Valley and Harabe Hulik Village around Yuvadamı Village. The artificial caves are carved in one and two floors, and some of them were created in the style of galleries, and the extent of these galleries has not been investigated yet. Some of the caves consist of two or three rooms arranged side by side or back to back. Near the Yuvadamı Village, besides the natural and artificial caves, the niches carved into the rocks, the altars and the rock tombs have important material cultural documents that will shed light on the history of the region. Near this village, there is the largest prehistoric cemetery of the region.
