Ariccia Bridge's Pillars Seen From Bottom To Top

The Bridge of Ariccia is a monumental road viaduct built in the mid-19th century between kilometers 23 and 24 of the state road 7 Via Appia, with the aim of rectifying once and for all the route of the Via Appia between Albano Laziale and Ariccia. The bridge spans a deep valley with a graceful arch that rises 72 meters above the ground. It is made of peperino stone and reinforced concrete, and has a length of 312 meters and a width of 9 meters. The bridge was inaugurated in 1854 with a medal issued for the occasion. It offers a scenic view of the surrounding landscape and the town of Ariccia, with its baroque architecture and its famous fraschette (typical taverns). The bridge is also a popular spot for bungee jumping enthusiasts who dare to leap into the void from its parapet.
