Cataphoresis Paint is a Water Based Paint. It is an electrochemical paint coating method with wet application. This method; It has performances far above the methods such as electrostatic powder and electrostatic wet paint against corrosion and impact. The first industrial use of cataphoresis dyeing, which is a chemical process based on electrolytic reaction, took place in the USA in 1975. The first body painting using the cataphoresis method was made in 1978 at the CHRYSLER automobile factory in France. As a result of the work done since then, today’s cataphoresis offers a coating that is ecologically clean, economical and provides superior corrosion protection.
The biggest advantage of the cataphoresis method is its proven resistance to aggressive conditions such as high humidity, salt effect, etc. Cataphoresis can be used as a primary anticorrosion primer coating for both main coating and prior to final coatings such as powder coatings. Since the coating obtained as a result of cataphoresis primer application does not provide adequate protection against ultraviolet rays, the technological process of most paint lines also envisages wet or powder topcoat coating. As an exception, the "black cataphoresis" applied alone for parts of the vehicles such as under the hood, chassis, and saloon components can be shown. This process, which has the same application as “grey” body cataphoresis, provides higher coating thickness, UF protection and high corrosion resistance thanks to the raw materials used.
Cataphoresis coating is used mainly in the automobile industry, in the manufacture of all machinery equipment, agricultural machinery, durable consumer goods and in many production areas. This process, which ensures that a special substance, which acts as a protective layer, is kept on the surface of the metal, increases the corrosion resistance of the metal several times. Among the important advantages of cataphoresis coating are:
- Resistance to corrosion over 1000 hours in salt vapor cabinet
- Possibility to increase the anti-corrosion warranty period from 6 to 12 years
- Painting the parts with mixed geometry by penetrating into their inner cavities
- Ability of the painted surface to cover the smoothness
- High protection for edges and corners
- Obtaining equal coating thickness
- High coating hardness
- Ability to provide protection to various surfaces (steel, aluminum, magnesium)
- Maximum mechanization and automation of the paint process
- Wide drying range ensuring even quality
- High production capacity
- Maximum economic benefit
- Reduction of harmful wastes thrown into nature thanks to being a water-based paint.
Primer paint made by cataphoresis method provides the best coating thickness distribution and a coating thickness of 12 mic in accordance with the technical conditions of European automobile manufacturers in the interior spaces of the painted parts.
