The coccyx, also known as the tailbone, is the final segment of the vertebral column in humans and other apes. It is typically composed of three to five coccygeal vertebrae, although the number can vary. The sacrum is a large, triangular bone at the base of the spine, between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the coccyx.
