Valla Canyon, which is one of the deepest canyons in the world, is located within the borders of Muratbaşı Village of Pınarbaşı District of Kastamonu province of Turkey. It is a nature miracle consisting of deep cliffs and giant rocks. The distance of the canyon to the district is 26 km. The 1.5 km part up to the canyon is a path through the forest. Valla Canyon in Muratbaşı village of Pınarbaşı district starts from the junction of Devrekani Stream and Kanlıçay, and in the direction of Cide district the height of the side wall rocks is 12 km long, reaching 800-1300 meters in places. It can be watched from the confluence of these two streams, after a 1.5km journey through the forest under the Valla District of Muratabaşı Village, which is extremely difficult to enter. In this canyon, there are steep cliffs and eagles, vultures, hawks, falcons and all other wild game animals on these cliffs. There are two viewing terraces on the canyon, namely “Muratbaşı Twirl Observation Terrace” and “Kerte Observation Terrace”. Valla Canyon became a place of visit for nature lovers after 4 students from Istanbul Technical University disappeared in 1994 and left Cide after 14 days and described it as a Wild Paradise. It is not possible to cross the canyon without equipment.
