Grand Canyon With Deep Cliffs

Valla canyon is located within the borders of Muratbaşı (Valla) village in Pınarbaşı district of Kastamonu province. Located in the Küre Mountains National Park, the canyon is the second deepest canyon in the world with a depth of 800 meters. Its length is 12 km.

It was formed by the chemical erosion of the limestone layers that make up the Küre Mountains and streams. Starting from the confluence of Devrekani Stream and Kanlıçay, the canyon proceeds for 12 km in the direction of Cide district. Devrakani Stream has formed the Çatak Canyon and Horma Canyon in addition to the Valla Canyon.

The length of the canyon, the difficulty of its course, the height of its walls make the passage dangerous. It is not possible for non-experts and unequipped persons to pass. There may be disappearances and deaths. Walla canyon consists of deep rocks, cliffs and a river flowing in the middle of Kastamonu forests. steep rocks are very suitable for mountaineers and nature tourism.
