The people of Latmos believed that the god of Air and the old Anatolian mountain god, whom they believed in since the Neolithic period, lived here. Even though Zeus of the Greeks took the place of the god of air later on, the cult of rain continued until today in the mountains of Latmos. From prehistoric times, there were secret passages and paths that the Latmosians used to reach their mountain temple. These roads, which were called holy roads during the Christian era, were also used as pilgrimage routes.
