The Beskydy Mountains, Czech Republic. The Beskydy Mountains were proclaimed a protected landscape area in 1973, which they truly deserve. With their surface of 1,166 km2, they are the largest protected area in the Czech Republic. Besides their beautiful nature, you can enjoy several monuments of folk architecture here, especially the unique wooden churches and buildings. The locality is part of the Carpathians and the highest mountain is Lysá hora (1,323 m above sea level). Walks along the mountain paths offer breath-taking views and natural scenery.
