It can also be described as a monastery built at the eastern entrance of a deep and long valley. The large colonnaded church on the southern slope at the entrance of the district is particularly worth seeing. The deep valley allowed chapels to be built into the heights and many chapels were built in the cave region. Kayseri has a characteristic rock structure similar to Cappadocia.
