Royal Landscape Design, Rundale Latvia

Royal Landscape Design, Rundale Latvia. A baroque palace is unimaginable without a French garden, an architectural formation of greenery that has to reveal how art forms govern nature.

Although Rundale’s French garden covers only 10 hectares, Rastrel (french architect and Landscape designer) has managed to design a complex maze of alleys, cross alleys, pergolas, and bosquets in it. The park, together with the palace, is surrounded by a specially excavated canal. Every year the garden is replenished with new architectural objects.

In summer, the park hosts open-air exhibitions, garden festivals, and early music festival concerts.
