The Bastei is a rock formation over the Elbe River in the Sandstone Mountains of Germany. At 305 metres above sea level, the rocks of the Bastei were formed by erosion over a million years ago have historically had bridges crossing the eroded rocks. They are the major landmark of the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
