The lungs are a pair of cone-shaped organs located within the thoracic cavity, protected by the rib cage. They are divided into two main sections called lobes: the right lung consists of three lobes (upper, middle, and lower lobes), while the left lung has two lobes (upper and lower lobes). These lobes are further divided into smaller units known as lobules.
