Wadi Rum It is also called the “Valley of the Moon” due to the similarity of its terrain with that of the Moon. In 2011, UNESCO included Wadi Rum Nature Reserve in the List of World Natural Heritage Many films were shot in Wadi Rum, such as Lawrence of Arabia and The Martian, as the valley attracted film makers, especially science fiction films that take place on Mars because of the great similarity between the terrain of Wadi Rum and Mars.
