Lake Zachernoe is located in the Shumilinsky district of the Vitebsk region, 8 km to the north-east of the town of Vitebsk. Shumilino, about 0.6 km west of the village of Filippenki and belongs to the Shevinka river basin (called Zaronovka in the upper reaches). The terrain is ridge-hilly, with small forests, copses and plantings, swampy in places. The western extremity of the lake is surrounded by a narrow swampy floodplain, adjacent to a waterlogged meadow. The shores are predominantly elevated, overgrown with bushes, in places with sparse forests. The shallow water is narrow, sandy, deeper the bottom is sapropelous. The greatest depths are in the central part of the lake along its entire length, the maximum is in the southern part, about 0.08 km from the southwestern shore. In the east, it is connected by a narrow channel with the Filippenskoe lake. 2 streams flow in. In the southern part there is a small island with an area of ​​0.1 hectares. The lake is inhabited by bream, pike, roach, tench, rudd, perch.
