Wildlife – Birds. Wood sandpiper (Tringa glareola) lives in forest marshes during the breeding season and in freshwater ponds, artificial lakes, muddy marshes, canals, grasslands and wetlands outside the breeding season. They feed on aquatic and terrestrial insects and their larvae, worms, spiders and crustaceans.
