It is an external device for computer. It has special surface technology for touching with special pen. This device is for creating blueprints, models, animation, sketches and other type of artwork.

He is creating something like logotype, sign or new font. Also it could be interior of fashion design. Or maybe he is writing a letter or signing the documents like agreement or contract.
